Fenside Farm. Traditional Barn Conversion
This development in Lincolnshire comprised the change of use of some agricultural barns to business use for the research and development of organic pesticides. Due to the sensitive and demanding nature of the research the company owners, a family run business, required 24 hour access and security and so two of the older Victorian barns were converted into a family home. This allowed them to live out on the isolated Lincolnshire fens to run their business as well as raise their family. The design of the barn conversion had to be sensitive to the rural vernacular of wide open fields dotted with isolated agricultural buildings, and the conversion needed to preserve the rural feel of the external appearance of the building, while providing the family with the home they required.
